Did you know Depression Can Be Avoided by Clearing the Mind?

Now more than ever people are waking up to the reality that mental health is important. We need to take action to avoid mental health issues, which include major depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, PTSD, ADHD, and manic bipolar disorder. All of these mental health issues are caused by trauma and chaos.

The world is a crazy place, and everything and everyone is reaching for our attention. Instagram is flooded with more of the same, and the telly keeps us occupied with things that add no eternal value to our lives. Pre-occupied minds cannot find clarity, and this leads to the subtle state of insanity we see in society.

In today’s blog post I simply want to bring awareness. Once you see a reflection of your true state in the mirror (self-awareness), then you can name and shame the things that are taking up mental rental space. Kick the unwelcomed guests out of your mind to clear a way for new growth. Your mind is The Garden.

Mental Health is important, and to avoid these “common” mental health issues we need to do some house cleaning, and remove the junk that’s cluttering your mental space. In the Bible we read about a strong man who is the keeper of a house, and if you have invited “bad” strong men into your soul, then we must fast.

As it is written, “This kind does not go out except by fasting and prayer.” – Jesus Christ

Mental clarity is something we all need in order to make wise decisions that are uncluttered by emotions and feelings. The world is crazy, but we don’t have to lose our sanity. We don’t have to conform to the norm and we don’t have to be distracted by things that add no value. We can choose our own path if we wish to.

One of the most important things we can get in life is clarity about the path we have chosen to walk on. Many people just wander through life without a mandate; no vision, and no purpose. These are also the people who fall into a place of despair as they are unable to find meaning in the madness.

As a result of this, many people simply accept the ‘blueprint of happiness’ that has freely been given to them by this world. This forces them to work for money with an unquenchable desire for more. That’s the main reason why the world is in a dire state. It’s greed, gluttony, lust, pride, and a need for MORE, but things will never satisfy the human soul.

As it is written, “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but happy is he who keeps the law.” Proverbs 29

The word law refers to the boundaries and moral regulations set in place by God to create harmony and unity (order) in the world through the law of equality and love. Buddhists call it karma, Gnostics call it the spiritual law, and Christians call it the 10 commandments, but really it’s God’s love taking care of us.

Once we understand what God’s love looks like, and why YHVH has set all of these rules in place, then only will we understand why obedience to His way leads to a life of freedom and joy. Having a vision for the future creates hope. We get this when we find our purpose and mandate from the clarity God’s Spirit provides.

Millions of people around the world are living in a state of despair with mental disorders like depression. These people have lost hope and they are unable to stand back up from the hole. God wants to restore His children and show us that He has a good plan for our lives if we would only trust His ways.

As it is written, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8

Jesus looked at the man and asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?”

God knows what we need and what we want before we even ask, but He wants us to know what we want and then ask for it. The Bible says “You don’t have because you don’t ask, ask that your joy may be complete.” I believe when we ask God in prayer and He answers us, it brings glory to His name as it increases our faith in Him.

But please take note there is more to it than simply asking for things to satisfy our desires. The Bible goes on to say that “when you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” Which tells me we need to pray for things that would benefit everyone.

So it’s not bad to have desires, but we need to discern if our desires are selfish or not. God desires that we desire something greater than our comfort zone because desire gives us the needed strength to get up and walk towards the vision He has placed in our hearts. Desire gives birth to actions that will refine your character.

As it is written, “Record the vision and inscribe it on tablets, that the one who reads it may run with it. For the vision is for an appointed time.” – Habakkuk 2:2

Everyone knows the Bible story of the lame man at the well. Jesus asked him straight out WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME? Don’t you think God already knew his desire was to walk? I believe God is still doing this in our lives, but we have to know what we want and then ask for it with the knowing that He loves us.

This week take time to think about what you want from life and then write it down. Research shows we are more likely to reach our goals if we write them down and revisit them daily. If you are unsure about what you, then you might settle and take what you get, and that will likely not be God’s best.

Knowing this should give you hope and inspire you to dream again. if you need to, fast and pray for clarity. You will hear from God if you commit yourself to asking, seeking, and knocking (Matthew 7:7). I’ve put this 3-day fasting and cleansing guide together for our members to be set free and thrive.

Be clear about what you want from life

This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look. Ask for the ancient paths: ‘Where is the good way?’ Then walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.” – Jeremiah 6:16

The “Ancient Paths” can be likened to the Original Design made by God for us to thrive. The world is distracting God’s people to lose sight of what is truly important in their lives and as a result we have caused so much pain for ourselves and our children, but thought this platform I plan on changing that.

We all know what we like and what we dislike, and our ‘blueprint of happiness’ is something that will change as we journey through life. It’s important that we keep ourselves accountable when we choose to run after the dreams placed in our hearts. Whether those dreams or vision is from the world or from God.

All of us do what we do for different reasons, but at the core of it we see family. We all want to be loved and we want to love, but if we aren’t careful our desire for more can enslave us to this world as we chase dollar bills and the illusion of freedom. Things like power and pleasure can lead to self-destruction.

As it is written, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.” – Romans 12:2

The only thing that truly matters is that you know yourself, and once you do, don’t doubt the path you have chosen to walk on. Go all in and learn to patiently focus every step of the way. Trust that you have been made for the desires that burn in your soul. It doesn’t matter what your goals are if you have clarity.

Once you have clarity and you know where you want to be, that’s when you need to consider who you must be to get there. God will shape your character in the process and that is why all of us must go through the furnace of life to be refined and defined. This will be a painful process, but it’s so worth it in the end.

From my personal experience I have found that when we set a goal with a greater purpose, and we are inspired to make an impact in the world around us, that is when we will have the tenacity and strength to see it through until the end. We must all “sacrifice-to-win” as Jesus did. That is truly what love is all about.

As it is written, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” – John 15:13

Seek Mental Clarity and Understanding

As it is written, “Call upon Me in prayer and I will listen to you. Seek Me with all your heart and I will restore you from captivity and set you free.” declares the LORD – Jeremiah 29:13

Walking into a new chapter will challenge you to do things differently. Einstein said “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.” We have to do different to get different. The Unknown can be daunting, but there are thousands of people throughout history who took this leap of faith.

Millions of believers have put God’s Words to the test and the results were phenomenal. But despite this fact, it’s not as easy as it might seem – God will challenge your faith. The truth is we can only get stronger and grow like muscle do when we are placed under enough pressure to seek help from an Higher Authority.

If we are never forced to go outside the comfort zone, we will never discover our potential as we reach for help from Above. Resistance is the stimulus we need to become more than we were yesterday, and we can only know how strong we are when strong is the only option we have left – Strength is earned, not given.

As it is written, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

We need resistance to grow, transform, and conquer this world. This means we need stress to mature into the image of God. However, if this stress turns into anxiety, then we will have a big problem. Anxiety is like over-training, and it will weaken your faith as it strips you of the hope you need to continue moving towards your vision.

Anxiety is to lose control of your mind as fear takes control of you. This can then lead to comfort eating, substance abuse, and other escape mechanisms that will cause destruction in your life, and in the lives of those you are suppose to love and care for. When the Bible speaks of idols, it refers to these dead things we place our trust in.

Being mindful of God will greatly reduce anxiety. The Holy Bible was written by Spirit-filled believers to give us the wisdom we need to manage stress and improve our own mental, physical, and spiritual well-being. It’s critical to discipline your mind and do what you know you need to if you wish to enter into the promised land.

As it is written, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” – Joshua 1:8

Lazer focus and find mental clarity

As it is written, “Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” – John 13:17

This coming Saturday set aside 90-minutes to simply sit in silence and pray about your future and God’s purpose for your life. Once you find that place of harmony, ask yourself, “What should I do with my talents and abilities?” Don’t doubt what comes. Just listen with an open heart and you will hear the loving voice of God.

We need to have a good reason to do everything we’ve decided to do. Taking a leap of faith into the unknown will transform your life, but it will also be challenging. We must be prepared for a turbulent take off. But God will gives us the strength to go from one level to the next as we grow mentality, physically, and spiritually.

Once you are crystal clear on the path ahead, don’t look back. Don’t allow doubt and fear to paralyze you from moving forward. Walking away from your old life will not be comfortable, but it will bless you if you persevere. Create a solid plan of action, and give yourself grace to make mistakes. Micheal Jordan missed 9000 shots to be the best.

As It is written, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; nothing will be impossible for you.” – Matthew 17:20

Heartfelt prayer creates faith in the Unseen, and spending time with God creates faith in the things only you can see. Ask God the Father to bless your journey ahead. He is faithful and He will guide your steps every day until you reach your destination. Throughout the Bible we see stories of men and women who had faith, and so can you.

Noah was chosen by God to build an Ark. The people laughed at him, they mocked him, and they called him a crazy drunk. Yet, Noah believed God, and Noah kept building the Ark despite the fact that it had never rained before. The Ark took many years to complete, but once it was done, the rain came. Noah was right all along.

Living with a heart of faith is to become like a child again. Children dream big, and so should we. Many of us have lost faith in ourselves and in the Unseen possibility that is found in God. We have lost faith because we have forgotten who we are and who God is. It is the revelation of the knowledge of God that transforms the mind.

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.” – Hebrews 11:1
