Healing Words 5e: How Words transform the heart and mind

We all have a story to tell, and all of us have faced tribulations that shaped us. But if we can be vulnerable and write our stories, then the healing power of sharing our hearts with others can manifest itself into something awe-inspiring.

Children absolutely love to hear bedtime stories. They have imaginations that can create those unseen realities for them. This brings joy, hope, and feelings of love. However, the kind of stories shared by the world can fill them with a fear of the Dark.

Parents know all too well not to let their kids watch horror films. But parents also know the reality of this world and the tragedy of death, something we will all have to face as we grow old. These things are inevitable and we have to accept them as part of our journey here on earth. Whether we experience these painful events in our teens or much later in life. We must learn not to fear the Unknown.

You and I, we’re not that different. We have a story to tell; a testimony. Just like me, you have faced this world and it has shaped you into who you are today. God the Father, the Creator of every living thing is also telling His story through the silent screams that are passed on from one generation to the next. But it is this heritage that brings hope and healing.

To help you understand the power of your own words and the story you carry, I would like to share my heart and story with you. Bodybuilding for Christ is my ministry, which means it’s my message to the world. I would like to take you through a journey of remembrance that’s based on biblical truths and metaphysical principles that can and will transform your life if you believe.

I recently watched a movie that reminded me of the wonderful notion of written letters. Think of yourself as a soldier for just a moment, or even a soldiers wife. You can only communicate with your beloved by the written words of your heart. It’s not the same as a hug, or even an intimate night in bed, but it brings you to tears when you hear their voice whispering “Hello Love.”

Your words and what you choose to share can have a tremendous effect on the heart (spirit) and soul (emotions) of the person you’re writing to, and that’s the beauty of the written word. That’s how the Bible was shared with us; God ripped out His own heart to show us His everlasting love. Jesus Christ came as the manifested Word to demonstrate God’s love to all believers.

Paul says: “Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Read that again.

Imagine for just a moment you see John, Paul, and Jeremiah sitting in a metaphysical prison cell, in total isolation and darkness, writing their hearts out to share a message with the people that would bring hope and healing. Imagine you have to go through that same season of isolation. My personal journey through the Dark taught me that there is nothing new under the sun, and nothing has changed in human nature since the beginning of time. For us to find healing, we need to turn back to the Light.

What if there was more to the Holy Bible than simple stories of men and women who believed God. What if every story was a lesson in the form of a parable that speaks about something much deeper than the eye can see, and that’s why it’s so powerful to the one who receives. Jesus Christ even likened Himself (The Word of God) to bread that satisfies all who hunger for more.

What if Jonah was depressed because he lived in fear of his own calling. What if Jonah was sitting in darkness because he was unwilling to share his heart and love with the people who needed it the most. What if Jonah tried to run away from what God had placed in his heart because he was afraid of what people might think and say. God pushed Jonah into his destiny despite his fears. So, even if you are afraid of the opinion of men, and even if you are currently being bullied, God will get you through it.

When we understand the psychology behind human behavior, and we can see ourselves through God’s eyes, then we will start to see that we are beautiful not because we are perfect, but because we are the broken pieces that mend this fallen world. We are the answer to healing others have been looking for. That is why we go through trauma, so we can love, support, and serve.

There is power in your words. The thoughts you keep are the seeds that grow into trees that bear fruits. You choose what kind. The thoughts you keep will affect every aspect of your being, even the words you speak. That’s why healing is so important. Once you are set free from your past you will become a conduit of blessing to yourself and those around you. You choose.

As it is written, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” – Proverbs 18:21

If we look at what God says about His own words, then we can come to understand and believe that His words are trustworthy and true. As it is written, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Word will never pass away.”. The Word of God applies to our daily lives as it reveals every aspect of our human nature. The Bible is also known as the “book of remembrance” and I believe it’s a love story written to us by God. It starts by directing us to Him as the archetype of man and it reveals His loving nature.

As it is written, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God. The one who loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. – 1 John 4:7

The Bible goes on to say that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word. Logically think about this for just a moment. You can tell someone a story, and if they believe you their faith will grow, just like your kids watching those late-night shows. If the Word of God is like a sword cutting through us, then believing what God says should increase our faith in His message.

It’s a message of love, and once we get to know God we can see that His perfect love drives out all fear. That means the hidden things that keep you from moving forward in life; those little demons that tormented you at night. Fear will get driven out if you fill your heart and soul with the transformative power of His written Word, it’s the presence of His Holy Spirit here on the earth.

I’ve decided to write this blog not to teach you anything, but to reveal how your desire for healing will activate the pathways that lead you through a season of seeking to find your own way as you learn the spiritual lessons through intimate revelations. Nobody but God can save you. But you and I, we first need to reach out our hands like Peter did when He was busy drowning.

(See Matthew 14).

When I turned to God at 27, I repented and was baptized, but I still had a lot of junk in the trunk. Unknown fears and pains that kept me from moving forward in life. I kept repeating the same mistakes through my desire to unknowingly ease the pain. It was like an itch I just had to scratch. Having a wounded soul will keep you in the same place if you don’t find the healing you need.

Did you know your soul actually obeys your spirit? If you have a spirit of heaviness (depression), then your soul (emotions and thoughts) will be clouded by things that bring you down even more. To find healing for your soul you ultimately need to focus on your Spirit, as everything you do will come from that place in your heart. That is why God says He will give you a new heart.

The same is true for those who have been sexually abused. Soul ties that form will make you think and do things that aren’t considered as pure and good. You will be affected by unseen things that will influence your life in a negative way. It’s important to take note of these unseen “things” as they are a reality and the reason why there are so many TV games centered around it.

As it is written, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” – Ephesians 6:12

The Spirit of God led me to affirmations that were designed to rewire my mind and overlap or cover the destructive pathways that were established by the trauma from my past. These incidents gave me a skewed perception of myself and the world around me. It started with simple affirmations about my identity and my character. Like “I am intelligent” and “I am strong”.

God asked me to start writing my story and His story. He asked me to share the things He shared with me, and to write about my experiences as I walked through this wilderness with Him refining me, teaching me, and leading me to a land flowing with milk and honey. I knew it would be a place where I can thrive without the world holding me in metaphysical chains like a slave.

When Moses was called by God to give Pharaoh a message, he asked God how he should refer to God. Yahweh simply replied by saying “I am who I am”. There was nothing to be added, and nothing to be taken away, simple, yet powerful. No title required. He is God; the only living God. He does not need to prove Himself, yet He does that so we might know that He alone is God.

Pharaoh had a hard time hearing this message, and his heart was hardened towards God’s people. They were forced to work like slaves in his kingdom. So, God stepped in and sent plagues that took everything from him including his firstborn child. As intense as that might sound, it’s a story that’s written in the sands of time to show us that God will fight for the ones He loves.

In the same manner we are designed by God to be unique, beautiful, and powerful as a family without the need for a title or an introduction. Our presence and the energy we carry will introduce us before we say anything. That’s one of the primary reasons why it’s so important to find healing for those soul wounds caused by the lies of this world, and that includes the piercing words of hurt people. Remember, we all have a story to share. Show grace and listen. Others are also silently screaming just like you..

Healing your soul from past traumas can take longer than expected and that’s why I see it as the metamorphosis of the soul. Nobody likes to talk about their past if it reminds them of the pain and suffering they lived through, let alone share it on paper where others might see. But what if I told you that’s exactly what you need to do to see a positive breakthrough in your life.

It’s important to understand that according to God’s Word, it’s our stories that carry the power to inspire change, bring hope, and heal our families. Putting our stories out in the light will break the chains holding us. That’s why we write, to be set free. Rappers are poets who create songs of expression whereby they grow and get to know themselves intimately. This heals.

It’s almost like lifting weights to find therapy, except your using your heart and not your arms. Writing in a journal is therapeutic. At least for me, this has been the experience writing brings. It gave me an outlet from the chaos I held within. At the age of 21 I was hospitalized for major depressive disorder. This was a time in my life that very few people knew about or were allowed to see as I shamefully locked myself away for fear of judgement. The reason for this was the trauma I’ve faced from a young age.

Writing was an outlet for me and online communities were my saving grace. I met others who like me were suffering silently. Writing, gaming, and the grace of God made it possible for them to stay alive. The feeling of belonging is important for us if we want to experience life in a positive way, and that’s why so many people desire to find their tribe. We were never designed to be alone. If we understand the beauty of a healthy family, then we will take responsibility for the legacy we will leave behind.

That’s one more reason why I’ve put this platform together for the world to see that through God’s grace and the discipline of bodybuilding – the growth mindset – you can be set free from a victim mentality as you spread your wings and fly. Journaling can be a positive thing if you feel stuck in your pain, but you need to start and not give up until you have shared your heart.

The words we think, speak, and write have the power to transform our lives and what you focus on is what you become. If you can see yourself a certain way and then act the part, you will transform as your beliefs create new pathways in your brain that affect the way you think and speak. This is why meditation is so important if we want to be set free from the “chaos within”.

Start your healing journey by shopping for a journal and pen that would bring joy when you’re using it. It might sound weird but unless you actually start looking for that journal and pen, you won’t fully be able to grasp the kind of experience I’m referring to. There is much more to journaling, or writing down ideas, than simple words on a page. For the writer it’s a form of meditation.

Journaling needs to be an experience you look forward to. Think about making a cup of tea or coffee, then sit down at a desk while the world is sleeping and start with a clean page. Take that awesome pen you paid too much for and share your heart with ink. Once you close that journal, you should feel relief and almost like a burden has been lifted off your shoulders.

What I would like to suggest is that you use your journal for daily meditation. Reading about who you want to be and how you want to present yourself in the world is important if you want to change your inner being. Think of it logically, if you can see yourself looking, feeling, and speaking in a certain way, and you believe it, then it’s only a matter time before it manifests.

This might be the reason some call it a “manifesto”. Writing in your manifesto should make you feel different as you align your mind with what you feel in your heart. You feel set free because all those things you kept inside are now exposed and you’re no longer hiding them in the dark. You can even use your journal as a place to actively talk to God as you write down your prayers.

God released His Word into the world, and it saved the world from the wrath that was stored up on the inside. Those of us who have been wronged, used, and abused, we can knowingly, or unknowingly be holding back wrath, and it will be released in a destructive way if we don’t share what we feel.

The beauty of humanity is the fact that we are much more than what we’ve been told by the world. We are made in the image and likeness of God the Trinity (Mind, Body, Spirit). It’s one of the most blasphemous statements ever made by mankind, and yet it’s exactly what Jesus came to demonstrate when He was here on earth – God manifested Himself in the flesh as a man.

As it is written, “He who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross.” – Philippians 2:7

Think about this concept for just a moment: For decades humans have been trying to label, worship, and find God by elevating themselves as holier than thou. Here comes Jesus Christ and He tells us that it’s not about us or our level of spiritual superiority. We are made by love to love and to be loved. But if we do not understand the love of God then our love will be selfish in nature.

When you are selfish by nature, your greed and the desire to have more will keep you from opening up your spiritual tap to let the water flow from your heart as you serve and bless others with your words. This in turn will keep you stuck in place as you hide away for fear of loss and poverty. But if we know who we are and who we belong to, then we will live freely without fear.

As it is written, “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then He blessed them to be fruitful and to multiply.” – Genesis 1:27

In the Gospel of Thomas, it is written that Jesus Christ said, “When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that you are the children of the living Father. But if you will not know yourselves, then you dwell in poverty, and it is you who are that poverty.” – Amazing right? We have a responsibility to know our own identity and thereby we are free.

We are co-creators with God, and we aren’t just consumers as we’ve been told. We are not like the animals who only eat, sleep, and die (the circle of life). We can create things that have the power to change the future for others. This is our eternal legacy. God blessed us with gifts and abilities that can bless others and our words have the power to change the world if we believe.

As it is written, “If you continue in My Word, you are truly My disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” – John 8:32

Writing your story won’t be easy. From my personal experience it took 4 years to complete and that was simply due to the fact that I was a victim of my own past and I’ve not received complete healing for my wounded soul. I had to journal, and I had to fall, until I got strong enough to forgive and let go. Use your journal as often as you can, and at the end of each year, burn it.

Yes, this might sound bizarre, but burning your journal can be as liberating as making a sacrifice to God. No one needs to know about the things you wrote while you were being healed by the power of His love. Trust me when I say that if you’re still hurting and looking for answers from God your journal will be filled with question marks. Playing the victim of your past won’t allow you the freedom to write with an open heart. Remember, your story is not just about you, but about the heritage you leave behind.

Just think of what Jesus Christ did, He died for the lost and His name and essence is now perpetuated throughout eternity. Unseen, surreal, but still so real. Millions of believers follow Jesus and He has proven to be faithful time and time again. Testimony after testimony we can see the evidence as God heals the hearts of those who are forgiven for their sins.

As it is written, ‘“This is the covenant I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord. I will put My laws in their hearts and inscribe them on their minds.” – Hebrews 10:16

You and I carry the same power to influence the next generations in us as Jesus Christ did, and in the words of Uncle Ben, “Peter, with great power comes great responsibility.” So, use your words and time wisely and write your own future through meditation and journaling. No one can show you how it’s done except for Him, so be willing to listen to the wisdom of God.

Healing starts with your heart, and if you allow God’s Word and His Spirit to change your heart you will see a change in the way you walk and talk. Just be willing to open your heart to receive His agape love, as it is in His Words that your faith will increase and once you take a leap you will see His Spirit lead you like the wind. It’s what His word declares, He will be your Shepherd.

The thing is, if God is who He says He is, then the meditations of your heart, the condition of your heart, is what He listens to; and the prayers we use in vain as we repeat the same string of words fall to ground and bear no fruit at all. Try writing down your prayers and see how God listens to your requests. But before you do, remember this one thing, you cannot manipulate God. So dig deep to see why your asking and seeking before you get angry for not responding the way you want Him to.

Then one last thing. If you or your child is a victim of bullying, even cyberbullying, it’s important to resist those attacks not by hiding away or going on defense, but to play offensive and take serious actions against the perpetrators. Allow the violence to continue will send a message that it’s okay for chaos to be present in our lives. Words can affect us and cause serious wounds.

Chaos is the absence of order, and that’s a hard thing to implement in a chaotic world that fights for our attention at all times. You’re words and thoughts are like seeds. Use them with wisdom to plant only the good shit. You will know what it is because you have been born of God by love and for love. Don’t let the world corrupt your heart and defile your mind with more chaos.

My goal as your coach is to teach you how you can make this online coaching course your own faith-based journey, your own lifestyle fitness program, and your own personal season of growth. Once we have a desire to grow towards the maturity God intends for us to walk in, only then will we learn to listen intuitively to that gentle voice of wisdom that’s always available to us.

As it is written, “Wisdom calls out in the street, she lifts her voice in the square– Proverbs 1:20

There is power in the Word.
