Biblical Advice: Your Heart’s Desire leads to life; and also to death.

As it is written, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” – Jeremiah 17:9

An interesting title isn’t it, “desire leads to life; and also to death.” What do I mean by this? It’s quite simple: If you desire to get something you don’t have it means you’re not where you want to be. It means that A) the attainment of your desire will bring about a new sense of life, and B) you will have to make a sacrifice which entails laying down your life in one way or another.

If we think in terms of bodybuilding, then we can see [this desire] as a skinny boy who has a NEED for love and affection and he makes the logical connection to build his body and transform his physique in order that he might make a loving connection. Attraction starts with something deeper than words can explain. It starts with the heart and so many signals to the brain.

For us to take hold of something we desire, something we don’t have, we will have to change and do things we naturally don’t. Think of it like this: If you have a desire to build a business that would bless others, you will first need to change into the person who is able to develop and manage that business effectively. It’s logical to see why we have to embrace this positive change.

The same is true for our desires in every aspect of life, something has to die for something new to be born. If that something is your childish ways of thinking, then you will mature as you change the way in which you lead other people, including yourself. We have to be accountable for ourselves if we desire to see positive change in our own lives because we need to take action.

There is so much more to your heart’s desire than you might know. Your heart holds the key to life and death, and I pray this blog will enlighten you about the power within. Throughout history men with desire have changed the world. May you receive what our heavenly Father desires for you. Trust that His plans are good, and know that He loves you more than His own Word.

As it is written, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men, yet they cannot fathom the work that God has done from beginning to end.” – Ecclesiastes 3:11

As it is written, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12

I believe we are like butterflies. We are born into this world as nothing but worms who consume. Our greedy nature tends to make us reach, taking more than we ought to, and this can cause pain for ourselves and others. Pain hardens our hearts like the chrysalis that keeps us safe. However, if we can learn to forgive ourselves and others, then we can find the freedom we need to mature and grow beyond the prison-like cocoon. This metamorphosis will make you give more than you desire from this world.

I’ve spent quite a lot of time thinking about what makes us (humans) do what we do. What separates the average guy or girl from the extraordinary? What sets champions apart from the rest of society? It’s their level of desire – It’s that one thing that burns in their hearts and drives them forward each day with discipline. These hero-athletes sacrifice everything for the win.

You are here because you wish to achieve something that will be challenging, and whatever it might be, you need to take time out and think about the ‘why’ behind your desires. If your desires are based on fear, a lack mentality, greed, or the lust for more, then the root of your desire is not based on love, which is to give more. A desire that’s based on lack will never manifest itself abundantly as there is no reason to sacrifice yourself when you are filled with me, me, me – the simpleton’s worm mentality.

Once you see the multiplication of a love-based seed you will understand what I mean by the pure desire to give more than you receive. Think about it. What will you have to sacrifice in order to see your desire manifest? Will this sacrifice be worth it in the end? God the Father sacrificed His only begotten Son for the ones He loved so that they might be set free from their fears.

As it is written, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

If we are naturally made with a desire for the sweetest things in life, then that is ultimately what we will reach for in an attempt to find satisfaction for our human desires. So, then the question really becomes, “What do you think will satisfy your desires?” Notice the ‘why’ and ‘who’ in God’s actions, and consider whether the attainment of your desire will bring glory or destruction.

As it is written, “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? I, the LORD, search the heart; I examine the mind to reward a man according to his way, by what his deeds deserve.” – Jeremiah 17:9

All of us want to make an impact. But as you know, the world is a deceiving place. False news, fear-mongering sales tactics, end-time prophecies, and pornography. We are being brainwashed to live with a lack mentality. The truth is death comes for us all. But fearing death is to fear the loss of life, and without death, there cannot be life. So why live with a fear of the inevitable?

Living with a lack mentality will cause you to reach out for X, Y, and Z in an attempt to satisfy the lack you perceive you have. However, if you don’t change your mental state from a place of ‘always reaching’ to ‘always receiving’ you will continue to run towards the next high just to stay alive. You will continue to sow seeds of destruction that will bind your soul to an empty lie.

Think of it like this: You start doing A because you desire C. But you have to go through B to learn the lessons needed to have C. When you rush towards C with a heart of lust, you will neglect the lessons of B and get impatient as you reach for C, when you do get C without the foundation of B then you stop doing A, which leads to you losing C. So you have to repeat the cycle again.

The most basic example of this is to look at young men who start training in the gym because they desire the sweetness of a women’s lips. This boy trains for a year or two and looks pretty good, but still, nothing compared to the men who inspired him. So, he gets impatient and his youthful greed gets the better of him. He decides to take a shortcut in the pursuit of his “dream”.

Getting on gear (steroids) is great because it makes the process so much more enjoyable. You get a high from the juice flowing through your veins and you’re able to train like an absolute beast. But the root of your desire is not pure and after a few years on gear you get the girl you thought you wanted, but here’s the thing, you’ve changed, and so to the ‘love’ you have to give.

You’ve sold your soul to the worm inside. The desire to have more made you reached for a shortcut – the mystical golden pill. You get married and do everything you think will make you happy, but the lack mentality still exists, and soon you find yourself looking for more. Your wife is no longer what you think of at night, and it’s not long before you both decide to file for a divorce.

This is a real example of what can happen when you do A to get to C but you neglect the lessons taught by season B. The one who has a desire for change will be aware of the lessons taught by B and he/she will embody the patience needed to grow and mature with a heart of gold. It’s something rare in this world, and that’s why the butterfly is a gift from God to behold.

As it is written, “What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” – Matthew 16:26

Desire, God, Promised Land

As it is written, “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.” – Psalm 37:4

God cannot be placed in a box. Just look around you. Look at all the people! Look at all the faces! Look at the wonder of God! There is something magnificent in the complexity of His Original Design and I plan on sharing what I can with everything I do. Living with a burning desire to worship God with your talents is an act of love and service.

The question is not what you do, or who you are. The question is why you do, and why you are? What has God called you for? It’s important to have clarity about the things that are important to God for your life. He cares for you and He wants to use you. Get clarity on the ‘why’, and know ‘why’ you want to build a business or start a ministry.

Ultimately all of us do what we do for family. That is how God designed us. Whether you have a pooch or a man bear at home, you have a place where you feel at home. Family is a sacred part of life and a gift from God. It truly is why we do what we do. Family is who we are. So, let the love you have for your family drive you towards God.

As it is written, “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” – 2 Corinthians 5:14

We all have to die in order to live. Choose whether your health is a priority to you, because it is to God. Not just your physical health, but also your mental health. Your will and emotions are controlled by your soul, and if your soul is wounded you will be filled with fear. This lack mentality emotions will lead to more pain. The metamorphosis is challenging, but you wil be set free.

God says in His Word “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” I believe you’ve come across this platform because there is a deep desire within your heart for healing and strength. A desire placed there by God for you to be healthy, strong, and intimate with Him.

If this resonates with you, and you know you are here because you want to learn, grow, and mature, then you need to have the desire ignited by His Words. I speak His Word over your life today. You will get stronger, leaner, and wiser. The Holy Spirit will give you the mind of Christ. You will be tenacious and able to go further and faster than the limitations of your own mind.

Jesus Christ said, “Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” – John 14:12

As it is written, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way as to take the prize.” – 1 Corinthians 9:24

Not long after my walk with Jesus started I joined a men’s conference at our church where God revealed the word ‘TENACITY’ with me through a brother in Christ. According to a quick Google search, the word meant “perseverance towards the vision”. That’s what I’ve been doing for the past 4 years, and it’s tested my faith in various ways, but I have grown much stronger.

What vision do you have in your heart? Whatever it might be that you desire, I wish I could tell you the journey would be easy. But the truth is God is not mocked and we will reap what we sow. Your vision won’t fall out of heaven simply because you think. All of us have a responsibility “to do”. So if you need to get into a better shape, just do it. If you need to toss the porn, just do it.

I’m writing this to you that you may acknowledge and understand that this journey to the promised land won’t take 12 weeks. Transforming your physique, your mind, and your Spirit to be one with Christ will be a personal journey which can last anything from 4 years to 40, it all depends on your obedience to the Shepherd’s voice leading you to find the land of milk and honey.

As it is written, “I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of your bondage. Open your mouth wipe and I will fill it. But My people would not listen to Me, and they would not obey Me. So I gave them up to their stubborn hearts to follow their own desires. If My people would only listen to Me; if they would follow My ways, how soon I would subdue their enemies and turn My hand against their foes! Those who hate the LORD would feign obedience, and their doom will last forever. But I would feed you the finest of wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” – Psalm 81

The truth is the only constant is change, and we are either dying or thriving. We all turn to dust at some point, but the question is not when, but rather why we are here between those two points. How you choose to spend your time is entirely up to you and God is not concerned with your interests or abilities. He is more concerned with the condition of your heart and soul.

Champions become champions because they have a burning desire within them. I believe it’s the Spirit of Christ who leads them to new heights as they push the boundaries with fearless hearts. Walking with God will never be comfortable, but it will be worth it because He will refine you like gold as He prepares you for the position He had in mind when He designed you.

We need to dream big and then faithfully work with passion and tenacity towards our heart’s desires. And it doesn’t matter if your heart is filled with a desire for more, God is the refiner of hearts and the one who calls Light from the dark. Therefore you need only trust that He has started His working in you and He will finish what He started.

As it is written, “Set your minds on the things above, not on things that are of the earth.” – Colossians 3:2
